The Basics
With locations in Van Wert and Paulding, Ohio, Westwood Behavioral Health Center is a private, non-profit facility that offers outpatient treatment for addiction and mental health. Its CARF-accredited programs are community-focused, primarily treating clients of Van Wert County who are either self-referred or court-ordered.
Treatment and Staff
Upon intake, clients undergo an initial assessment so that an individualized treatment plan may be developed. Programs include individual and group therapy that is rooted in evidence-based practices, such as CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). While 12-step participation may be a required by court stipulations, it is not a requirement of the program. Additional support is available for clients with co-occurring disorders.
Staff includes LPCs, psychologists, state-certified drug counselors, case managers and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Aftercare is available in the form of continued treatment at a stepped down rate. Sessions are an extension of primary care but focus predominantly on relapse prevention. Case management is also offered on a standalone basis.
Additional services include summer programs designed for younger clientele with mental health issues or behavioral disorders. These programs promote discussions of pro-social behavior, emotional boundaries, emotional expression and other related topics, as well as outdoor activities such as canoeing, hiking, fishing and field trips to local attractions.

Overall, Westwood Behavioral Health Center offers flexible addiction treatment to Van Wert County and its surrounding areas. Evidence-based methods are executed by a highly trained staff, equipped to work with court-ordered stipulations and co-occurring disorders. While those in need of a more intensive program may want to seek residential care, Westwood Behavioral Health Center remains a strong resource for outpatient treatment in the area.
