The Basics
In 1988 the Council on Addiction Recovery Services Inc. Weston’s Manor accepted its first client in Olean, New York. Today, Weston’s Manor continues as a sober living facility for men over 18. Located about 50 miles south of Buffalo, Weston’s Manor offers a minimum stay of six months and helps clients to create individualized treatment plans, as well as offering on-site individual and group counseling.
Accommodations and Amenities
Weston’s Manor is a historical Victorian property which holds 16 beds. Two or three clients share rooms while all share two full bathrooms with showers (one of which is handicapped accessible), in addition to a third large bathroom with two showers and four sinks. Weston’s Manor is a tobacco-free facility. All meals are included in cost of stay. Clients do their own cooking while rotating responsibility of house chores.
Rules and Regulations
The minimum stay at Weston’s Manor is six months, the maximum is nine. Clients may enter after going through detox or inpatient treatment elsewhere and must also get a TB test, psych evaluation and medical screening before admission. During the stay clients get outpatient treatment services five days a week. They are transported to the main Olean office for group and individual sessions while groups also take place at the house in evenings. Clients do mandatory volunteer work three days a week. While treatment is not exclusively focused on the 12-step approach, clients are required to attend off-site AA/NA meetings in the nearby community..
On-site staff monitors clients 24/7 while CSACs visit the house (usually in the evenings and some weekends). Most counselors work with clients at the main Olean location.
Extras
Family and friends may visit Weston’s Manor on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from noon to five pm.
Recreational areas available include a weight room, rec room, backyard area with basketball court and use of the Olean YMCA. Nicotine replacement therapy and continuing support is also available.
