The Basics
For over 15 years, Westlake Village Family Services has operated under the guidance of Micheal Kaufman (MFT, PsyD) with an intimate staff-to-client ratio. Located in Westlake Village, California, the facility is situated near Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Malibu. Basic outpatient counseling and dual diagnosis support are the central services at WVFS and clients are given individualized tracks with focused treatment regimens.
Treatment and Staff
All clients undergo an assessment prior to enrollment which acts as a treatment planning session and determines if the client has co-occurring disorders. Medication management is available to support mental health disorders and referrals for detox are available if recommended by the treatment staff.
Individual therapy is available as well as group therapy for chemically dependent clients. Clients have the option of participating in one or both methods as well as family therapy, couples counseling and meditation. Clients are also encouraged to attend 12-step meetings to support their recovery.
WVFS uses evidence-based methods including CBT to help clients develop recovery tools and set sobriety goals. Specialized methods are used to help clients who have experienced trauma, domestic violence, grief, stress and depression develop coping skills. Both adult and adolescent groups are available, as is regular drug testing.
All therapeutic activities are carried out by MFTs and professionals with Master’s-level credentials. Duration of treatment is dependent on the client, as is frequency of attendance.
Extras
Parenting classes and expert legal testimony services are available. Additionally, groups are available for internet addiction and child abuse survivors.
