The Basics
With a number of facilities throughout the state, WestCare Nevada offers behavioral health and outreach programs to clients struggling with addiction, co-occurring disorders and other social issues. In addition to its various residential treatment options, the organization also provides outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for adults and adolescents in Las Vegas and Pahrump.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, incoming clients go through an initial intake and assessment process in order for staff to place them in the appropriate program. Those in need of detox can do so at one of the Community Triage Centers (CTC) or at the Stepping Stones facility specifically for adolescents. While these programs are medically supervised, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is not available.
Once stabilized, clients can attend outpatient or IOP through either the Las Vegas or Pahrump CTC facilities; both locations include care options for adults and adolescents. Though both programs include the same treatment methods, IOP meets for a minimum of three times a week for three hours per session while standard outpatient is more flexible. In each, treatment plans include individual and group therapy utilizing evidence-based practices, primarily CBT. Programs also draw heavily on 12-step teachings and the Matrix Model as well. Group sessions cover a range of topics including relapse prevention, gender-specific issues, coping skills and parenting classes (when applicable). While support for dual diagnosis issues is available, it is only offered through the MLK Center.
The staff at WestCare Nevada Outpatient consists of CADCs, LPCs, RNs, case managers and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
WestCare Nevada also offers a number of outreach and prevention services to adolescents and adults as well as support programs for veterans in recovery. Court-ordered clients are also welcome to attend with special diversionary programs available in lieu of criminal sentencing. Those who finish primary care can also step down their outpatient plans or find sober living through the organization as a form of aftercare.

In all, WestCare Nevada’s offerings are diverse and all-encompassing with plans available for clients of all ages. Treatment is evidence-based and includes 12-step integration as well as dual diagnosis support.
