West Texas Counseling and RehabilitationThe Basics

With facilities in Abilene, Amarillo, Dallas, Garland, Irving, Midland, Odessa, Plano, San Angelo and Temple, West Texas Counseling and Rehabilitation is a vast network providing outpatient-based treatment for clients struggling with addiction. The organization is CARF-accredited and offers flexible and low-cost treatment plans.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning a program, clients go through an intake and assessment process to help staff members determine their needs. Though inpatient detox services are not available, the facilities do provide ambulatory detox in the form of methadone maintenance for those withdrawing opiates. Program specifics may vary by client but outpatient plans are generally group therapy-based and include evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT. Individual therapy can be added on a case-by-base basis. Group sessions cover a range of topics including addiction education, coping skills, relapse prevention and stress management. All clients are required to attend regular 12-step meetings in their respective communities throughout treatment. While the facilities do feature medical oversight, the programs offered are not dual diagnosis equipped. Both court-ordered and self-referred clients are welcome with flexible lengths of treatment, depending on each person’s needs.

The staff at West Texas Counseling and Rehabilitation consists of MDs, LPCs, psychologists and additional Master’s-level counselors.

Extras

Special programs are available for clients with DUIs and clients can attend standalone mental health counseling as necessary. The organization also provides flexible case management services to help clients after primary care ends. Referrals to more intensive services are also available.

In Summary

Overall, West Texas Counseling and Rehabilitation is a broad organization with many locations throughout the state. While outpatient programs are fairly straightforward, each includes medical oversight and 12-step based treatment plans. Particularly for those who might need Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), West Texas Counseling and Rehabilitation is an affordable, accessible option for formalized substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment.
