The Basics
West Oaks Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited behavioral health hospital with a number of flexible programs. Services are available for children, adolescents and adults with medical and psychiatric care provided. Though the organization also provides residential treatment services, those struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders can also attend outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) as needed.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help the clinical staff place them in an appropriate program. Those in need of medical detox services can do so on-site before continuing on to treatment. Though each program may include relatively similar treatment, each comes in different intensities. The most intensive option is PHP, which meets five days a week for full days of therapy. IOP typically meets several times a week for half days with sessions available in the morning and evening.
Each of the programs include group and individual therapy with evidence-based practices like CBT and DBT; the specific modalities used may vary by therapist. Groups cover a range of topics including relapse prevention, life skills, 12-step concepts, mental health and HIV/STD education. Dual diagnosis support is available as well, including medication management services.
The staff at West Oaks Hospital consists of MDs, psychiatrists, LPCs, RNs, LMSWs, LMFTs, LCDCs, LCSWs and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Those attending day treatment programs are also served up to three meals a day.
As mentioned, West Oaks Hospital is a full hospital and as such provides many of the same programs above, exclusively for psychiatric issues. Special plans catered to the needs of adolescents and children are also provided.
Those who complete primary care can also work with staff members to develop stepped down aftercare plans.
