The Basics
West Coast Counseling and Group Therapy Center offers individualized outpatient services for people struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. For over 30 years, Cindy Busto and Jody Frank have led a team of well-trained therapists to meet the unique challenges of its clientele. Since its inception, West Coast Counseling and Group Therapy Center has grown to meet the demands of its clients—from a two-room office in Sherman Oaks, California to three full-fledged counseling centers in the greater Los Angeles area.
Treatment and Staff
WCCC is strictly outpatient, treating both adults and adolescents. With a multi faceted approach to therapy and recovery, no two clients are on the same tract. The first step in treatment is a free assessment over the phone with either Busto or Frank. From the initial assessment, potential clients meet with a Master’s-level therapist for initial intake appointments. Eligible clients are assigned to individual therapists who can best suits their needs and typically meet with them three to four times in private sessions before a treatment regime is outlined. Clients on medication are encouraged to visit their psychiatrist monthly for medication management.
The objective at WCCC is to identify and confront underlying issues leading to addiction. If appropriate, clients are often assigned to group therapy in addition to individual therapy. Treatment includes CBT, family systems, psychodynamic processing and non-EMDR trauma therapy. Group topics include stress management, addiction education, breathing and meditative practices, anxiety and depression, sexual trauma, spirituality, goal setting and LGBT issues. Group size is limited to eight and certain groups are gender specific. A Master’s-level therapist who specializes in the particular group topic facilitates.
The treatment team consists of six highly educated and experienced Master’s-level therapists, who are available at all WCCC locations to best suit clients’ schedule.
Extras
West Coast Counseling and Group Therapy Center offers a variety of specialized monthly workshops outside of addiction. Past topics include Tapping the Inner Palette, Dating and Relationships and Dealing with Rejection. There are also workshops targeting people in the entertainment industry.
In Summary
While 12-step programs provide relief from substance abuse and past trauma, other issues can wreak havoc on sobriety for people with co-occurring disorders.
