Wellness Retreat Recovery Center is an upscale, private residential treatment facility in the heart of Silicon Valley in San Jose, California. It also offers detox and solid aftercare support. Accommodations and Food
The residence is an 8,000 square-foot estate that can accommodate a maximum of six clients. The home sits atop eight acres of land on one of the San Jose hilltops and offers panoramic views of the valley below. There are private bedrooms for when clients are going through the detox process and semi-private rooms for the remaining program. The spacious, comfortable bedrooms are furnished with queen-sized beds and private bathrooms. The home boasts spa-like amenities including Jacuzzi tubs, marble countertops, fireplaces throughout the residence, including in many of the bedrooms, and ornate chandeliers. There are several sitting rooms and lounges with TVs and large couches. Clients are also permitted to bring their cell phones, laptops and tablets.
Clients eat together in the formal dining room and there is a state of the art kitchen where an on-site chef prepares gourmet meals and snacks daily. The food is fresh and locally sourced and the chef is able to accommodate any allergies or dietary preferences including gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan or Kosher.
Treatment and Staff
Wellness Retreat offers evidence-based therapy in addition to holistic options. The average time spent in treatment is 45 days, though some attend between 30 and 90 days. The detox process typically takes up to seven days and clients start to attend group therapy and meet with their assigned counselor when they’re feeling well enough to do so. The small number of clients allows for a substantial amount of personal attention to each individual.
Treatment includes optional participation in peer support groups such as SMART Recovery, Refuge Recovery or AA/NA, as well as the implementation of therapeutic methods such as CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) or biofeedback. The holistic approaches include art, music or other forms of expressive therapy. The groups focus on subjects such as relapse prevention and coping skills, identifying triggers, self-esteem and anger management. Those who come to treatment with a co-occurring disorder are able to meet with their physician and therapist frequently for medication management.
The team at Wellness Retreat Recovery includes medical providers and a clinical staff of LMFTs CADCs, psychiatrists , pain management specialists and a Master’s-level RN.
Extras
Several therapeutic and recreational activities are facilitated weekly including yoga, reflexology, acupuncture and hiking in the hills. There are also weekly outings to places such as The Monterey Bay Aquarium, San Francisco (including Fisherman’s Warf and Alcatraz) or dinners and movies in the city.
There is an aftercare plan implemented prior to clients being discharged from the facility that takes into account their work and home schedules. The family program offered includes private family therapy and education as well as intervention services.
Wellness Retreat Recovery also offers a “treatment guarantee,” a perk not found at many facilities. Clients who fully commit to the program and comply with all suggestions and rules but do not remain sober post program completion are welcome to return free of charge for up to 30 days. This offer is available for up to a year after a client’s initial discharge.
