The Basics
Founded in 1996, Weeks and Vieri Counseling Services (WVCS) treats adults and adolescents in and around the Moscow, Idaho area who are struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues, and those who have co-occurring disorders. Using the “No Wrong Door” concept, all potential clients are screened for both, allowing staff to address critical issues and provide necessary services. Outpatient treatment includes one-on-one and group therapy, as well as community referrals, case management and education.
Treatment and Staff
Outpatient treatment at WVCS is individualized in order to meet each client’s unique recovery needs. Treatment includes group therapy one to four times a week, individual therapy, family therapy and education classes. Group sessions include Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT), cognitive self-change, gender specific groups for women and men, reality recovery, process groups and advanced relapse prevention. Detox services are not offered, but referrals are given to trusted neighboring facilities.
There are five professional staff members at WVCS, including psychologists, drug and alcohol counselors, recreation therapists and couples counselors—all from varying backgrounds and experiences. Dual diagnosis support is available, and clients are encouraged to attend community 12-step meetings.
Extras
WVCS offers drug testing and help for clients dealing with DUI offenses. Substance abuse evaluations are offered, including DUI/DWI, Minor in Possession/Minor in Consumption (MIP/MIC), Alcohol/Substance Abuse and GAIN assessments. Psychological evaluations and anger management groups are also available. Educational classes on topics such as AIDS are scheduled once a month in eight-hour sessions.
Substance abuse clients are also eligible to receive specialized counseling services to help develop life skills, family relationships, marriage therapy, money management, parenting skills, healthy relationships and nutrition.
In Summary
WVCS is a small outpatient individualized treatment facility that provides substance abuse and mental health services to adults and adolescents in the Moscow, Idaho region, especially those who cannot afford pricey treatment centers. Private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid are all accepted, but services are reasonably priced with payment plans for those with financial limitations. Some clients may even be eligible for outside state funding, especially those who are veterans, homeless, pregnant, victims of domestic violence or generally at risk.
