Wabash Valley Alliance is a community mental health provider with outpatient substance abuse treatment locations throughout East-Central Indiana. It has been serving the residents of the Wabash River Valley area since 1938 and received its Joint-Commission accreditation for substance abuse treatment in 1987.
Wabash Valley’s most extensive outpatient program, a four-month Matrix Model Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is offered in its Lafayette location. An eight-week IOP is offered at its Otterbein, Crawford and Frankfort locations, as well as in Lafayette. Wabash Valley is in the process of opening an IOP in Attica, and all locations offer mental health counseling as well as substance abuse treatment.
Treatment and Staff
After an assessment, clients are placed in the IOP or Matrix program. Clients in the Lafayette Matrix program meet for group therapy Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings for 16 weeks. Clients have individual therapy as-needed, with at least one individual session to review their treatment plan and recovery goals.
IOP clients meet for group therapy in the evenings, three times a week for eight weeks. They too have individual therapy as-needed.
The treatment teams at Wabash Valley include Master’s-level therapists and addiction counselors such as psychologists, MSWs, LCACs and CADCs. They use CBT and the client-focused Living in Balance curriculum. Wabash Valley also encourages clients to attend peer support meetings such as AA/NA or SMART Recovery while enrolled in treatment.
Clients in need of dual diagnosis support are referred to Wabash Valley therapists who specialize in co-occurring disorders for individual therapy, and clients in need of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) or medication management are referred to one of its psychiatrists.
Clients can attend individual therapy for family counseling. Both programs have extensive aftercare components. Matrix clients are invited to attend a weekly relapse prevention group for 10 weeks and IOP clients can attend a relapse prevention group for six weeks.
For over 25 years, Wabash Valley Alliance has been providing residents of East-Central Indiana with effective outpatient substance abuse treatment. Its programs have significant aftercare components and provide access to mental health treatment and family counseling, ensuring clients have an opportunity to address the on-going triggers and underlying issues of their addictions.
