Volunteers of America Indiana OutpatientThe Basics

With a number of facilities throughout the state, Volunteers of America Indiana is a CARF-accredited organization offering affordable services to clients with behavioral health issues. In addition to its transitional care programs designed for veterans and disabled residents, it also facilitates outpatient-based treatment programs for clients struggling with addiction in Indianapolis and Evansville.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning a program, incoming clients undergo an assessment in order for staff members to develop an individualized treatment plan. While detox is not available through Volunteers of America Indiana, referrals to an appropriate facility can be made. Though the intensity and specifics of each track may vary depending on each client’s needs, programming always includes individual and group therapy that’s linked to evidence-based practices such as CBT and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET). Groups sessions incorporate addiction education, relapse prevention, life skills and 12-step recovery concepts. Basic dual diagnosis support services are available as well as trauma-informed care.

The staff at Volunteers of America Indiana consists of RNs, MDs, LMHCs, LACs, case managers and additional Master’s-level clinicians.

Extras

Volunteers of America Indiana has standalone mental health counseling and specialized services for children and families. A more intensive residential treatment program for mothers struggling with chemical dependency is also available, as are services for homeless veterans and those re-entering society after incarceration. Other community-oriented programs are provided in Fort Wayne, Gary and Terre Haute.

In Summary

Volunteers of America Indiana provides myriad behavioral health services for men and women in need. Treatment is evidence-based and includes 12-step integration and basic support for co-occurring disorders. For anyone seeking an affordable and flexible care option, Volunteers of America Indiana’s outpatient plans are a solid option.
