The residence has a modern exercise room and business center as well as a recreation room that features a TV and board games.
For exercise, clients can take advantage of walking trails and two swimming pools. The facility also features a ROPES course.
A private chef plans and prepares all meals. Clients can also partake in the chef’s weekly cooking and nutrition classes to help develop life skills and responsibility.
Treatment and Staff
Vista Recovery is a 30-day program. The treatment team takes a biopsychosocial approach to treatment, focusing on the physical, spiritual, emotional and intellectual development of each client.
Days begin with exercise and meditation at 8:30 am. After a day of treatment activities, clients attend off-site 12-step meetings each evening and then spend time journaling. The day concludes with a community meeting for residents to share discoveries and issues uncovered in treatment.
Therapy uses CBT and DBT among other evidence-based modalities, and addresses coping skills and anger management. Groups are led by Master’s-level therapists including LCSWs, LPCs and LMFTs and LCDCs. The treatment team also includes psychiatrists and nurse practitioners who can provide additional therapy and medication management for clients with co-occurring disorders. However, clients admitted to Vista needing dual diagnosis support must be stabilized in their mental health diagnosis.
Residents have yoga classes twice a week. The staff takes clients on recreational outings and into Austin for weekly shopping excursions. Family therapy is available, and Vista hosts a family group each Saturday. For aftercare, clients may step down to Texas Star Recovery’s outpatient program and/or participate in its Wednesday evening alumni meeting.
Texas Start Recovery is one of the oldest substance abuse treatment programs in Austin, Texas. Its Vista Recovery Program offers highly-customized treatment plans in a luxurious setting with ample recreation and amenities. With family groups, daily community meetings and personal reflection time, clients are likely to leave with a deep understanding of themselves and how they wish to contribute to the lives of those around them.
