The Basics
Located 30 miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah in the small city of Syracuse, ViewPoint Center is a residential treatment facility that specializes in the care of clients between the ages of 12 and 18 struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders as well as mental health conditions. Founded in 2014, ViewPoint is a Joint Commission accredited facility providing a multi-faceted care program that includes academics, recreation, therapy and community. While the 12-step model is not a component of the programming, ViewPoint does offer a medical detox and medication management.
Accommodations and Food
Situated on a private, seven acre campus, ViewPoint has enough space to provide both a atmosphere of solitude and an active, supportive community of peers. The facility is equipped with 26 beds as well as an array of amenities such as a computer lab, classrooms, meditation areas, fitness center and a climbing wall. Meals are served in the facility’s cafeteria. With plenty of nutritious and tasty options, residents with dietary preferences are accommodated.
Treatment and Staff
ViewPoint Center treats teenagers with a range of alcohol and substance use disorders, eating disorders, mental illnesses and personal issues. Before beginning treatment, clients undergo a comprehensive assessment by a team of professionals. This evaluation is used to determine the most effective personalized treatment program customized to meet the individual’s needs. While the assessment sets a baseline, clients are continually assessed throughout their stay. When needed, clients transition immediately into the medical detox that provides around-the-clock medical supervision and medication management to help curb unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Upon completion, clients transfer to the residential program. While the length of car varies depending on the needs of the individual, most clients stay at ViewPoint between six and seven weeks.
ViewPoint offers a comprehensive and collaborative approach to treatment that integrates a number of therapeutic methods including psychiatric and medical assessments, academics, training and evidence-based therapies. Clients engage in individual therapy sessions, group therapy and weekly family therapy with therapists trained in evidence-based CBT and DBT. The facility also provides a range of life and social skills training in addition to academic courses.
The multi-disciplinary team at ViewPoint is comprised of MDs, PsyDs, registered nurses, CSWs and mental health counselors. Medication management is available for clients with mental health challenges.
