Victory Detox Review
Victory Detox opened in early 2017 to provide clinically comprehensive medically supervised detox in North Hollywood, California. After residents complete detox, they continue to work with their treatment team in residential treatment. Clients begin residential treatment with a 28-day commitment, which they may then extend as they see fit.
Victory Detox was founded by Ashot Vardanyan, who’s spent several years working in Southern California’s recovery industry and is celebrating his seventh year in recovery. Victory Detox is located in a co-ed residence that serves up to six clients at a time. This fall, Victory plans to open an additional residence in an adjoining property.
Accommodations and Food
Residents have one roommate in the well-appointed suburban home. The residence features a traditional decor and has recreational equipment including a pool table, Xbox, a ping-pong table and numerous board games. A kitchen staff prepares all meals according to clients’ preferences and nutritional needs.
Treatment and Staff
Detox usually lasts for seven to 10 days. During detox, clients are encouraged to attend two hours of daily group therapy as soon as they’re physically able. Once clients are cleared by the nursing staff, they can attend additional groups and treatment activities each day. Residential clients attend six hours of treatment activities each day, including group therapy, individual therapy and expressive therapy such as art and music therapy.
Therapy at Victory Detox uses CBT and other evidence-based modalities to help clients learn relapse prevention, coping mechanisms and creating healthy boundaries. Twice a week, an LCSW come to the facility to provide individual therapy, including therapy for co-occurring disorders. The treatment team also includes a psychologist and several CADACs who facilitate the daily processing and psychoeducation groups.
Victory Detox employs a 24-hour nursing staff to attend to all clients’ medical needs. It also retains an on-call physician and addictionologists visit the home daily to make sure clients are responding well to their medication.
The treatment team encourages all clients to participate in 12-step meetings, other peer support frameworks such as SMART Recovery, or to invest in daily creative activities around which they can create a community and find achievement and meaning.
Extras
Victory Detox transports clients to a nearby LA Fitness for workouts several times a week. A yoga therapist also works with residents on creating a recovery-oriented yoga practice. If detox clients are unable to transition to residential treatment at Victory, the treatment team facilitates a transition to nearby outpatient programs and therapists with recovery expertise.
