The Basics
Based in Victorville, California, Victor Valley Center for Change is an outpatient substance abuse treatment program that works closely with the local drug court. As a subsidiary of Mental Health Systems, VVCC is one of several community-oriented programs throughout the state that works exclusively with clients sentenced through the judicial system and other government agencies.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial assessment, clients are given individualized treatment plans that combine individual and group therapy. While one-on-one sessions generally focus on intake, assessment, crisis intervention and treatment planning, groups focus on relapse prevention, social skills, family education and early intervention. Depending court stipulations, clients may also be required to attend 12-step meetings and get a sponsor. The facility also has extensive case management services that includes outside referrals for mental health, education and employment.
Staff includes CATCs, Master’s-level counselors and case managers.

Other services include quarterly HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C workshops complete with screenings, education and referrals for treatment. Similarly, courtesy screenings for clients trying to get their cases heard in drug court are also available.
