The Basics
Based out of West Palm Beach, Florida, Viamar Health is an expansive behavioral health organization which offers comprehensive treatment plans to clients struggling with eating disorders and related mental health issues. Outpatient programs are available to adolescents and adults alike in a variety of different intensities including Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP).
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. Although on-site detox is not available, those in need can get referrals as necessary. PHP meets for five days a week, six hours a day whereas IOP meets for three nights a week, three hours per session.
In both programs, treatment consists of individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based treatment practices including CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and EMDR. Dual diagnosis support and trauma-informed care practices are also available. Groups cover a wide range of topics including nutritional counseling, yoga, emotional processing, grief, healthy body image, psychodrama, psychoeducation and processing past trauma. Both programs also include supervised meals, restaurant outings and snacks throughout the day.
The staff at Viamar Health consists of RDs, LDNs, LMFTs, psychiatrists, psychologists, yoga teachers, chefs and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
In addition to the above, the program also uses creative healing groups which may include journaling and other creative outlets like art and dance. Standalone nutritional education programs are also available separate from treatment.
Private family and couples therapy groups are also offered. Finally, those who finish a primary care plan can work with staff members to develop stepped down aftercare plans. The organization also has a transitional living facility called Casita del Mar which takes clients seeking a structured home environment.
