The Basics
Vance Air Force Base is located in Enid, Oklahoma, just 65 miles north of Oklahoma City. The base offers a substance abuse treatment program for service men and women as well as civilians seeking outpatient services that focus on dual diagnosis care and treatment for co-occurring disorders.
Treatment and Staff
Although the program at VAF is exclusively outpatient, the individualized treatment plans tailored for each client and the focus on raising self-esteem leads to high success rates of recovery. Treatment begins with an initial assessment to evaluate the client and to determine the best course of treatment for the unique needs of the client. Additionally, a primary counselor is assigned at this time.
Clients schedule individual therapy with their counselor and attend family therapy that focuses on re-forming a happy, healthy and functioning system. Clients also partake in group therapy, relapse prevention counseling and co-dependency counseling specifically for family members of the client. A special co-occurring disorders group is also offered for those with dual-diagnosis and need treatment for mental health disorders as well as addiction. The 12-steps are not incorporated into treatment, but clients may be referred to local meetings if needed.
The staff at VAF consists of MDs, LPCs and CADCs.
Extras
VAF provides a range of additional services beyond substance abuse treatment including referrals for clients looking for residential programs or other mental health services. VAF also does regular drug screening and urine testing as needed.

The various groups available aim to provide specialized care for individuals with specific needs.
