The Basics
With a number of facilities throughout the state, VA Northern Indiana Health Care System is an expansive organization that provides myriad healthcare programs to low-income veterans. Clinics specifically offering flexible outpatient treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders are located in Fort Wayne and Marion.
Treatment and Staff
Unlike many outpatient programs, this organization does offer detox services at its Fort Wayne campus. Though the specifics may vary depending each client’s needs, programing always incorporates individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based practices including CBT and trauma-informed care. Dual diagnosis support and medication management are available as necessary. While 12-step participation is not required, clients are strongly encouraged to attend off-site AA/NA meetings in their communities.
VA Northern Indiana Health Care System boasts a well-rounded staff of psychologists, physicians, RNs, LCSWs, LPCs and Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Special treatment is available for clients who were prisoners of war and have suffered from trauma as a result. Inpatient programs specifically for psychiatric illnesses are also available. Additionally, standalone mental health counseling, a smoking cessation program and case management services can all be facilitated.
