The Basics
Upper Valley Resource and Counseling is a substance abuse treatment facility that was established as a response to the increasing need for addiction treatment facilities and programs in Southeast Idaho. With two locations in the Sugar City area, clients can choose the facility that best suits their treatment needs. Upper Valley offers an outpatient substance abuse treatment program that features several treatment groups.
Treatment and Staff
The outpatient program at Upper Valley consists of individual and group therapy. The group sessions utilize a range of evidence-based methods with specialized tracks focused on Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Relapse Prevention and Cognitive Self-Change.
The MET group aims to help clients progress through a series of stages working towards changing their habits. The Relapse Prevention group implements the Hazelden Recovery Plan Help Series and the Cognitive Self Change group integrates behavioral techniques that aim to help clients change their social environment to create and support a more stable and healthy lifestyle.
Individual therapy is scheduled independently between clients and their counselors, while the various group therapy programs are scheduled several times throughout the week for clients to attend at their convenience. The 12-steps are not incorporated into the program but referrals can be made for clients who wish to attend local chapter meetings.
The staff at Upper Valley consists of LCSWs and LPCs.
Extras
In addition to the comprehensive outpatient substance abuse treatment program, Upper Valley also offers a variety of additional programs and services to clients and community members. Other services include: a community-based rehab program, parenting classes, EMDR, psychotherapy, community seminars, mental health counseling as well as the Emotion Code, an energy healing technique.
