Cheap rehabs in des moines, IAThe Basics

With facilities in Des Moines, Ankeny and Knoxville, Iowa, United Community Services provides outpatient treatment for mental health and substance abuse. This CARF-accredited non-profit was incorporated in 1997 and helps clients to develop a healthy and balanced lifestyle by offering hope and respect for each individual.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning treatment, prospective clients undergo an initial in-person assessment at any of the three locations. Exceptions can be made for those transferring from an outside facility. The clinic is open from 8 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday and walk-ins are accepted.

Outpatient opiate detox is available and followed by Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with both Suboxone and methadone available. Duration of treatment ranges from 30 days to six months and includes daily nursing assessments, medication management and counseling.  This initial phase can generally be entirely covered by insurance.

After stabilization, clients begin attending individual and group therapy throughout the week for 60 to 90 minute sessions. Treatment plans are individualized and include rotating group topics. Though time slots vary, the Des Moines and Knoxville facilities offer groups for co-occurring disorders and relapse prevention. All locations host regular 12-step meetings and use the Stages of Change model.

Staff is made up Certified Addictions Counselors, psychologists, physicians, nurses, psychiatrists and counselors.

Extras

In addition to programs for adults, United Community Services has treatment options for adolescents at its Knoxville location. This includes basic outpatient, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), mental health services and continuing care. Treatment for gambling addiction is also available and the Des Moines facility. Additionally, support for Spanish-speaking clients is also available.

Other programs include Substance Abuse Group Education (SAGE), a five-week educational course that focuses on the dangers of substance abuse. Urinalysis tests are done at the beginning and end of the program. United Community Services also has Franklin Family Practice for basic medical needs like physicals, immunizations and minor surgeries.

Alumni and aftercare groups are offered to clients who have completed or are on the track to complete any of the substance abuse programs. These are designed to promote socialization and fellowship and allow clients to participate in sober activities like volunteering, sporting events and picnics. Other options include flexible care plans consisting of individual therapy, as well as a four-week relapse prevention course.
