The Basics
Since 1969, United Community Action Program in Pawnee, Oklahoma has been providing outpatient-based substance abuse treatment to clients 18 years and older. Located about an hour west of Tulsa, this CARF-accredited program offers individualized treatment, didactic groups and case management to Oklahoma state residents. And because the program is partially funded by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, nobody is turned away due to inability to pay.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial screening and assessment, clients work with staff members to develop person-centered treatment plans that work within the structure of individual and group therapy using evidence-based methods such as CBT and DBT. Educational groups cover topics such as life skills, coping mechanisms and relapse prevention strategies. Though the facility does sometimes host on-site AA/NA meetings, clients are not required to participate in a 12-step program during treatment. Case management services are also available. The staff for the substance abuse program is small and includes three state-certified LPCs.
Extras
Additional services include support for clients with disabilities, prenatal programs and Head Start, a program for children up to five years old and their parents that includes child development, education and mental health services. Federally-funded food programs that follow USDA guidelines are available to underprivileged children. A full list of United Community Action Program’s services can be found on their website.
In Summary
Overall, United Community Action Program is a comprehensive, community-focused outpatient rehab facility with an expansive list of ancillary services. Clients attend individualized, flexible treatment rooted in evidence-based practices and educational groups at an affordable price, making United Community Action Program a valuable resource to those in the area.
