Twin County Recovery Services (TCRS) offers residential and outpatient treatment to adults in Columbia and Greene Counties, New York. It is a non-profit organization founded in 1974 and licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. The Women’s Residential Treatment facility known as the Riverside Recovery Residence is located in Catskill, New York.
Accommodations and Food
TCRS Women’s Residential Treatment Program can accommodate 12 clients including women with children under the age of 5 in a residential-style home. Bedrooms are shared by up to three clients and their children. All clients share bathrooms. There are two recreational rooms with a TV and a house phone that can be used after 4 pm. There are no computers but clients are permitted to use personal cell phones and tablets after 30 days.
Adult visitors are only allowed on the weekends but children who are not staying at the residence may visit throughout the week. Children who live on-site attend an off-site DCS-licensed daycare while their mothers are in treatment. Clients may leave the residence for employment, educational, family and medical-related reasons and visit an off-site gym. Outings include picnics and walks.
Meals are planned, prepared and served home-style by the clients. Sugar and caffeine are allowed but restricted.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment occurs in-house and includes individual and group therapy using evidence-based practices and 12-step principles. Duration of treatment is generally nine months and is highly individualized based on the needs of the client. The program works with outside facilities to offer detox and dual diagnosis support, including trauma-informed care.
The daily schedule begins at 6:15 am with meditation, followed by breakfast and group therapy. In between meals, clients attend individual and group therapy, personal appointments and complete recovery assignments. Curfew is 10 pm with lights out at 11 pm.
The staff-to-client ratio is one-to-three. The all-female staff includes a full-time physician and two CASACs that are also case managers. Part-time staff includes overnight managers and support staff.
A family program includes ongoing family therapy during and after the completion of the residential program.
Aftercare includes ongoing access to outpatient services and mental health counseling. Clients also have access to supportive living resources.
The Twin County Recovery Services Women’s Residential Treatment offers a well-rounded approach to recovery with evidence-based treatment and 12-step facilitation. Off-site daycare is provided for children under the age of five who live on-site. The program works with outside facilities to offer detox and dual diagnosis support, and its ongoing aftercare services are additional advantages that make this organization worth considering.
