The Basics
Twin County Recovery Services (TCRS) offers residential and outpatient services in New York state’s Columbia and Greene Counties. A non-profit organization founded in 1974 and licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, TCRS operates two outpatient facilities that treat adolescents and adults in Hudson and Catskill, New York.
Treatment and Staff
Length of treatment is based on the needs of the client but generally ranges from a two-month relapse prevention program to one year for clients receiving Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). Treatment includes CBT, MRT, and 12-step integration in the context of both individual and group therapy. It also provides dual diagnosis support in conjunction with the Columbia County Department of Mental Health. Clients can receive individual therapy one to two times a week and can attend different group sessions up to five times a week. Groups are generally gender-specific. TCRS does not offer detox but does work closely with local hospitals to facilitate this process when needed.
The program can accept up to 150 clients at a time. TCRS also accepts adolescent clients as young as 13 who are treated by counselors that specialize in adolescent substance abuse.
The staff includes seven full-time female CSACs, LCSWs and MSWs as well as two part-time counselors, one part-time RN, one part-time psychiatrist, two administrative staff members and a quality assurance employee. Each counselor treats 30 to 35 clients. Counselors specialize in domestic violence and crisis intervention and there is a Spanish-speaking counselor on staff.
Extras
The Columbia County Clinic is housed in a new state-of-the-art building. It’s close to the heart of the town of Hudson and the courthouse but still offers privacy.
TCRS also offers stress management and art therapy. There is an aftercare program for clients who met their treatment goals but would like to receive ongoing weekly individual therapy or medication management by a psychiatrist.
No client is turned away because of inability to pay.

Twin County Recovery Services operates two outpatient programs that offer a combination of evidence-based treatment and 12-step integration, along with support for co-occurring disorders. There is also the option to explore its inpatient division if someone is need of more intensive care. A well-qualified staff, medical support when needed and solid aftercare resources all make this network one worth considering.
