Twin County Recovery Services offers residential and outpatient treatment to adults in Columbia and Greene Counties, New York. The non-profit organization was founded in 1974 and is licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. The Men’s Residential Treatment facility known as the Red Door Residence is located in Hudson, New York.

Accommodations and Food

TCRS’s Men’s Residential Treatment facility accommodates 13 adult clients. It has a mix of single, double and triple bedrooms with shared bathrooms in a residential-style home. There is a recreational room that includes a TV, pool table, computer and gym equipment, which is available for client use after 4 pm. Personal cell phones are also permitted after this time, however, not during their first 30 days of treatment.

Clients may leave the residence for employment, educational, family, medical-related appointments or to visit an off-site gym. Visitors are allowed on the weekends and clients can seek permission to receive visitors during the week.

The daily schedule begins at 7 am with meditation and breakfast. Throughout the day, clients travel to and from the home to TCR’s Columbia County Outpatient Clinic for treatment, which is a short walk away. Transportation is provided during inclement weather or for clients with physical restrictions. Clients meet with a case manager once a week at the residence. Curfew is 10 pm and lights out is 11 pm.

Meals are planned and prepared by the clients and served home-style. Sugar and caffeine are allowed but restricted.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment takes place at TCR’s Columbia County Outpatient Clinic. Length of the program is based on the needs of the client but ranges from six to nine months. Treatment works within the structure of individual and group therapy using CBT, DBT and 12 step recovery principles. Dual diagnosis support is also available. Clients receive individual therapy twice a week and meet for group five days a week. TCR doesn’t offer detox but does work as a liaison for clients and local hospitals, if necessary.

Staff at the clinic includes physicians and various LADCs, CSACs and LMHCs of mixed gender. The all-male staff at the residence includes a director, two case managers, an overnight manager and five part-time support staff. The residence staff-to-client ratio is one-to-two.

Extras

Treatment also includes yoga, stress management and art therapy. Aftercare includes ongoing outpatient care at TCR’s clinics. The Men’s Residential Treatment Program does not include a family program.

In Summary

Twin County Recovery Services Men’s Residential Treatment is a small, comprehensive program that combines a combination of traditional 12-step and evidence-based practices. Ongoing aftercare at one of the facility’s outpatient clinics is a valuable resource for maintaining sobriety. Men in the area looking to recover from substance abuse will do well to explore this affordable, well-rounded program.
