The Basics
Based out of Anchorage, Alaska, Tutan Recovery Services is a CARF-accredited behavioral health organization that provides faith-based recovery services to clients struggling with substance abuse and addiction. All programs are outpatient-based and available in varying intensities, including standard outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). Groups are offered in the morning and evening and can suit any schedule.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all participants go through an initial intake and assessment process to help the staff members determine their needs. As an outpatient-based facility, on-site detox and medical stabilization services are not available. Though the programs use the same modalities, outpatient is more flexible whereas IOP meets for a minimum nine hours a week spread between morning and evening sessions.

The curriculum also includes 12-step based recovery principles, more specifically by having clients attend Celebrate Recovery meetings. The curriculum also includes PRIME for Life, an evidence-based alcohol and drug program designed to reduce heavy drinking and recidivism. Programs are open to both self-referred and court-ordered clients. While some support for issues like depression and anxiety may be available, those in need of more intensive dual diagnosis support may need to seek additional help elsewhere.
The staff at Tutan Recovery Services consists of case managers and state-certified drug and alcohol counselors.
Extras
In addition to the more formal programs, the organization also hosts drug and alcohol education events at nearby schools to help steer kids away from lives of addiction and potential criminality. The organization also has a mentor program, which pairs clients who complete treatment with other alums who have been sober for longer than they have. Those who complete a primary care plan can work with the staff to develop step-down aftercare plans as well.
