The Basics
Turning Corners, Inc. was established in 1997 by Director Patricia Elizabeth Lilly, a credentialed professional with more than 30 years of experience in the field of addiction and substance abuse. Turning Corners is approved by the State of Maryland Department of Health and by the DMV as an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment program. Located in Bel Air, Maryland, a short drive away from Harford, Turning Corners provides evidence based substance abuse treatment that is tailored to each individual.
Treatment and Staff
Before enrolling in treatment, clients must first go through an initial evaluation and assessment to determine the acuity of their addiction and how substance abuse has affected the client’s life. An individualized treatment plan is developed that includes 26-hours in total of treatment. Clients requiring a more intensive track complete the program in 13 weeks attending two-hour sessions each week. The basic program entails one weekly hour-long session for 26 weeks. Tracks consists of addiction education and individual and group therapy sessions using CBT methodology. Additionally, there is a 12-week educational program for individuals who wish to evaluate their drug or alcohol use. The 12-steps are not integrated into the program.
The staff at Turning Corners consists of Bachelor’s-level mental health and board certified addictions counselors.
Extras
Turning Corners also offers a relapse prevention and continuing care program for those who have completed the 26-hour treatment track. This aftercare is ideal for those who have a history of relapse and wish to maintain their connection with treatment staff and support groups. This program incorporates the family and loved ones to ensure an adequate support system is in place at home.
