The Basics
Tully Hill Chemical Dependency Treatment Center provides both outpatient and inpatient treatment on a rural yet modern 33-acre campus in Tully, New York, a small town 20 miles south of Syracuse. Established in 1990, Tully Hill’s mission is “to provide appropriate, cost effective care of the highest quality to alcoholics and other chemically dependent persons and their families to achieve and maintain sobriety.”
Tully Hill’s outpatient treatment program is notable for its specialized treatment groups, which includes groups for professionals, uniformed professionals and adolescents. In addition to inpatient and outpatient treatment, Tully Hill also provides interventions using the Johnson Model.
Treatment and Staff
Outpatient clients are asked to make an initial six-month commitment to treatment at Tully Hill. Both a standard outpatient track and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) are available for enrollment, and clients may step down from the IOP as their recovery progresses.
Prospective clients have an assessment and are asked to bring a family member so that the treatment team can hear from someone close to the addict how their substance use has impacted their life. After, clients receive a treatment plan that includes group and individual therapy. Those enrolled at the IOP level attend group sessions three times each week and have one-on-one sessions once a week. Standard outpatient clients attend group therapy twice a week and have individual therapy at least once a month.
The treatment team includes therapists and addiction counselors, including LCSWs and CASACs. A psychiatrist visits the outpatient program once a week to provide dual diagnosis support. CBT and the 12-step framework are the cornerstones of treatment at Tully Hill and clients are encouraged to attend 12-step meetings each week. Outpatient clients are invited to attend the several meetings held at Tully Hill’s inpatient program.
In addition to its groups for professionals, uniformed professionals (which addresses PTSD) and adolescents, Tully Hill offers gender-specific groups and a group in which clients assemble and share a narrative of their life so far.
Extras
Tully Hill holds a family day each quarter when family members of outpatient clients can come to the facility for addiction education and support groups. Tully Hill takes pride in nurturing its alumni through an active Alumni Association which meets twice monthly. Tully Hill alumni can act as mentors to those in the early stages of treatment and can get connected to other alumni in their area for continued support after discharge.
