The Basics
Located just north of New Orleans in Slidell and Covington, Louisiana, Truth 180 helps adults and adolescents heal from substance abuse and mental health struggles. Clients can also find relief at both locations through assessments, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), individual and family therapy. Using evidence-based therapeutic methods and holistic alternatives like yoga and mediation, clients receive a well rounded approach to sobriety.
Treatment and Staff
Truth 180 offers outpatient care as well as educational sessions to those in need of addiction treatment. Prior to beginning treatment, each client must undergo an initial assessment. Detox and residential services are not available, but referrals an be provided if necessary.
IOP offers the highest level of support with three hours of therapy three times a week. Treatment involves a mixture of individual and group therapy. Using evidence-based therapies such as CBT and DBT, clients work on their triggers and negative thought patterns. Topics may include relapse prevention, coping skills, the 12 steps, early recovery skills and anger management. Referrals to local meetings in the community are provided upon request. Support for mental health issues like depression and anxiety can be addressed during therapy.
In addition to group therapy, individual sessions are offered as their own form of treatment as well. These hour-long meetings can create a space for privacy and one-on-one attention. With the help of a counselor, clients can address the underlying causes behind their addictions. The frequency of individual therapy sessions depend on the individual.
Family involvement in the recovery process is highly encouraged as well. Through therapy sessions and weekly group work, clients and their loved ones can work on communication and healthy boundaries. For the adolescent programs, parents or caregivers are required to attend parent education and weekly multi-family groups. The staff at Truth 180 consists of LADCs, social workers, counselors, family therapists, certified teachers and recreational therapists.
Extras
Aside from the more structured programs mentioned above, experiential therapies like yoga and meditation are also available, as are drug screenings and physicals.

Overall, Truth 180 provides a range of treatment options for those suffering from substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Rooted in talk therapy and the 12 steps, clients are given new coping skills. While those in need of a more intensive program may need to look elsewhere, Truth 180 remains a great program for those seeking a well rounded and independent approach to recovery.
