The Basics
True North Wellness Services is an organization that offers a variety of community programs including behavioral health, vocational, emergency and lifestyle management services. With seven locations across the state of Pennsylvania—two in Hanover and the others in York, Harrisburg, McConnellsburg, Gettysburg and Shrewsbury—TNWS provides a wealth of resources and programs to a wide range of communities. The substance abuse treatment program is an extension of their behavioral health services and offers specialized outpatient treatment.
Treatment and Staff
The substance abuse treatment program at TNWS provides a comprehensive outpatient program that allows clients to continue with their everyday lives at school or at work. Upon entering the program, clients are evaluated to develop an individualized treatment plan that will best fit their lifestyle and recovery needs. Each unique plan determines the frequency and type of counseling as well as the length of commitment. Each client’s case is also managed as they progress and modified as necessary.
Treatment at TNWS uses CBT and includes individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling and DUI counseling if required. Group sessions cover topics such as chemical dependency education, relapse prevention, aftercare planning and independent living skills.
Although every client’s plan is unique, almost all receive some form of therapy at least three days out of the week. Morning and evening sessions are available on weekdays and throughout the day on weekends. TNWS does not offer 12-step programming on-site, however clients are strongly encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings in addition to their treatment.
The staff at TNWS consists of CADCs, LPCs and a Certified Co-existing Disorder Professional-Diplomat (CCDP-D).
Extras
TNWS offers many programs beyond just substance abuse treatment including counseling services for the family, adolescents, couples and specialized peer and trauma counseling. Emergency crisis services, vocational services, community outreach programs and various educational programs for clients of all ages are available.
In Summary
By casting a wide net for mental and behavioral health treatment, TNWS does not specialize in substance abuse treatment. However their outpatient program offers a comprehensive treatment plan to help individuals receive treatment while still meeting the commitments of their daily lives. The individualized treatment plans allow each client to receive the level of evidence-based care they require priced on a sliding scale making recovery accessible to all.
