The Basics
Founded in 1971, TriStar Centennial Parthenon Pavilion in Nashville operates the largest and most established psychiatric and mental health facility in mid-Tennessee. Among several programs dedicated to mental health, the CLARITY program is a focused outpatient treatment track for substance abuse, anxiety, depression and trauma. A credentialed staff utilizes evidence-based practices to establish a strong foundation of recovery with unique treatment plans catered to each client’s needs.
Treatment and Staff
The CLARITY track is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) designed for adults boasting a low staff-to-client ratio of one-to-eight. Before enrollment, clients are bio-psycho-socially assessed to ensure they display the medical necessity for treatment. If the client requires dual diagnosis support, they are accommodated with additional care and referrals through the Parthenon Pavilion. IOP clients attend therapeutic activities Monday through Thursday for three hours each day for a total of 30 days. Clients work an individualized treatment plan filled with various activities that focus on healing and wellness.
The IOP utilizes a curriculum aimed at helping clients to improve their relationships with themselves as well as their families by developing and actively working towards recovery-oriented goals. CLARITY treatment utilizes CBT to help each individual learn about the role they play in their own addiction and how they can adjust their behavior through positive decision making. Clinicians include Psychiatrists, LCSWs, LPCs and Recreational Therapists. Each practitioner shapes the client’s experience using Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), the Trans-theoretical Model of Change (Stages of Change) as well as trauma-informed care.
From 1 to 4 pm each day, each client attends group therapy with a therapist. Groups focus on equipping the client with knowledge and tools for recovery through psycho-education and relapse prevention skills. Once per week, each client also sees their primary therapist for an individual therapy session. Topics discussed in groups are further discussed one-on-one, as well as more in-depth work that includes the family and the client’s history. Clients requiring additional support are encouraged to attend 12-step meetings to develop a support group outside of the facility.
Extras
In addition to treating substance abuse, CLARITY has three additional IOP tracks that focus on specific mental health concerns. A Depression IOP, Trauma IOP and Anxiety IOP all follow the same 30 day format as the substance abuse program and may be attended in tandem if recommended. Additionally, art therapy as a recreational therapy module is occasionally facilitated.
As part of a comprehensive continuum of health care, TriStar clients have access to community assistance, senior treatment, nutritionists and help with anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. TriStar Centennial Parthenon Pavilion also has Chaplaincy services and an on-site pharmacy for medication refills and prescriptions.
