The Basics
Founded in 2009, Trinity of Chemung County is a private non-profit organization that provides flexible outpatient drug and alcohol treatment to residents of Chemung County, New York. Based in Elmira, the facility also provides education, prevention and referral services to more than 300 people each month. Treatment is available to men, women, adolescents and families.
Treatment and Staff
All programs are individualized, catered to fit each client’s needs after an initial evaluation. Though flexible, plans include some combination of individual and group therapy using evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). Family therapy is also offered as-needed. The option of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is available as well, offered by way of Suboxone, Naltrexone, Vivitrol, Antabuse, Campral and nicotine replacement. Clients are expected to attend regular off-site 12-step meetings.
Staff consists of CASACs and administrative support personnel.

Trinity of Chemung County has a robust prevention and education department which includes the Drug Free Community Coalition of Chemung County, a multi-faceted organization that collects drug and alcohol research data, organizes community events and launches anti-drinking and drugging initiatives.
It also offers a weekly, seven-week program for impaired drivers that includes risk factor education and PRIME for Life sessions as well as a life skills training program, an academic program for Pre-K to 8th graders called Second STEP and a teen intervention program.

Overall, Trinity of Chemung County provides flexible, comprehensive and affordable outpatient treatment for a range of clientele, using a number of industry-approved treatment modalities. Though clients suffering from co-occurring disorders may not get the highest level of medical support they need here, Trinity’s solid treatment programming and strong ties to the local community makes it a valuable local resource.
