The Basics
Founded in 1975, Triad Counseling Center provides outpatient substance abuse programs for addiction and co-occurring disorders. With offices in Birmingham and Clarkston, Michigan, this CARF-accredited facility provides both faith and evidence-based counseling and psychoeducation in both group and individual therapy settings.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment is available to both adolescents and adults and facilitated on a step-down basis with the initial stages being the most intensive. The assessment process determines treatment length and sets up specific goals for each client. The programs are individualized and aim to address chemical dependency issues holistically.
Clients attend groups up to three days a week and one individual session weekly. Groups focus on relapse prevention, identifying triggers and addressing issues within the family setting. Therapeutic approaches include CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI), as well as Christian counseling. Though treatment is not based on the 12-step philosophy, the staff does recommend attendance at peer support groups such as AA or SMART Recovery.
For clients who begin treatment with an existing co-occurring disorder, or during the assessment process are identified as having a dual diagnosis, medication management and targeted counseling are available.
The staff of Triad consists of about 16 counselors, all of whom are Master’s-level clinicians with LCSW, LPC, psychiatrist and LMFT credentials.
