The Basics
Tri-County Mental Health Services, Inc is a CARF-accredited behavioral health facility founded in 1990. Though the main office is located in Kansas City, it offers outpatient alcohol and drug treatment at several locations throughout Missouri—serving residents of Clay, Platte and Ray counties. Programs are open to adults and adolescents who are either court-ordered or self-referred.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial assessment, clients receive an individualized treatment plan that adheres to one of two recovery tracks: the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which meets five days a week and consists primarily of group therapy (though individual sessions can be added) or the Comprehensive Substance Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Program (CSTAR), which has separate tracks for adults and adolescents. Both programs use evidence-based and brief solution-focused practices, which include CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), and clients acquire a variety of relapse prevention strategies as treatment progresses. The program also incorporates the 12-step model of recovery.
For clients with co-occurring disorders, additional psychiatric support and medication management are available. For clients who are coming off of opiates/opioids, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is offered.
Staff consists of psychologists, psychiatrists, LCSWs, CADCs, CADCs, MFTs and Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
As a multi-faceted and community-oriented organization, the facility also provides extensive case management for both adolescents and adults. This includes help seeking further education, treatment, employment and healthcare. It also operates a 24-hour crisis line.
Tri-County Mental Health Services, Inc. also has a less intensive day program that provides social and educational groups for adults with severe mental illnesses. It has a family-based program for children with acute psychiatric disorders in addition to other customizable, standalone mental health services for clients of all ages.
