Tri-County Human Services OutpatientThe Basics

Located in Lakeland, Florida, Tri-County Human Services is a private, non-profit substance abuse and addiction treatment facility. It provides detox, inpatient care, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for women, co-ed standard outpatient programming, mental health treatment and transitional living. The Lakeland facility offers the female-only IOP while outpatient treatment for both adults and adolescents is provided in Lakeland and nearby Winter Haven. At Tri-County Human Services, the mission is helping men and women suffering from chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders, regardless of their ability to pay.

Treatment and Staff

In order to be admitted into both the IOP and outpatient programs, clients must receive assessments, which are provided on a walk-in basis from 8 to 11 am on Tuesdays at both locations. Clients must bring in their photo ID, proof of income (if working) and insurance cards (if applicable). They must also inform the clinician of any prescription drugs they are taking. Those requiring detox can receive referrals to the Mary Lyon Detox Center in Barstow, which operates under the Tri-County Human Services network.

The female-only IOP is 16 weeks and includes two weekly group sessions, from 12 pm to 5 pm, case management and individual therapy that is scheduled per the client’s needs. Evidence-based modalities, including CBT, are employed during therapy. Groups are both psycho-educational and therapeutic. Topics include self-esteem, life skills, co-occurring disorders, women’s issues, parenting, recovery support groups, relapse prevention, coping skills, shame and guilt and substance abuse education.

The outpatient track parallels the IOP and is scheduled per the client’s individual needs. While facilities are open from 8 am to 5 pm, groups are scheduled from 5 to 8 pm, Mondays through Thursdays, at both locations. Outpatient groups range between 15 and 20 clients per session.

While not required, clients are encouraged to attend 12-step meetings and recovery support group referrals are provided. Those opting for a more faith-based approach are informed about groups like Celebrate Recovery and getting support from their local Church.

Drug and alcohol screenings are conducted regularly thought treatment. Clients requiring medication are referred to a psychiatrist and many receive medication vouchers to help pay for prescriptions.

Staff is comprised of clinical program supervisors, Bachelor’s-level addiction counselors, certified addiction professionals, mental health therapists, case managers and substance abuse technicians.

Extras

Aftercare referrals are provided. Additionally, the facilities provide family and couples therapy.
