The Basics
Founded in 1990, TRI Center Inc. of New York has locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx. Their facility has an Intensive Outpatient (IOP) track for alcohol and substance abuse issues, and clients work with professional counselors to develop individualized treatment plans.
Treatment and Staff
After getting in touch with the intake department, clients work with professional counselors to assess and evaluate the extent of their own substance abuse and mental health issues. On average, treatment lasts from six months to a year; IOP includes yoga, meditation and relapse prevention. Clients can attend treatment in the evenings as well.
TRI’s mission through alternative care is to help clients incorporate holistic practices to nourish the the relationships between mind, body and spirit. Therapies like CBT, psychotherapy, family therapy (led by MSWs) and self-help coaching through mindfulness-based stress reduction are also part of the programming. Anger management and the Marijuana Tract (designed to break denial patterns and dependence on marijuana with motivational enhancement therapy) are specialized programs offered at TRI Center.

In addition to the aforementioned yoga and meditation, TRI Center also offers DUI services and pharmacological consultation for those who need them.
