Sioux City IowaThe Basics

Founded in 2005, Transitional Services of Iowa (TSI) provides behavioral and mental health as well as substance abuse services to the adults, adolescents and children of Western Iowa. TSI’s Chemical Dependency and Additions Program focuses on the the identification, treatment and prevention of addictions through education and awareness.

Using an individualized and strength-based approach, TSI seeks to alleviate the stresses that cause and perpetuate additions while also strengthening individuals and their families through their wide range of programs and services.

Treatment and Staff

TSI’s programs include general outpatient, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), extended outpatient and continuing care services. The treatment plan and duration are dependent on the individual and his/her needs. Focusing on a holistic approach, TSI aims to help clients meet their emotional, mental, spiritual and physical needs. Treatment includes assessments, diagnosis, CBT, case management, educational classes, crisis management and individual, group and family therapy, which address multiple emotional and behavioral issues. TSI offers dual diagnosis support but not detox. Attending 12-step meetings is highly encouraged.

Staff at TSI are certified, accredited therapists and counselors, including mental health therapists, behavioral health intervention specialists, and CADCs.

Extras

TSI also offers court-ordered DUI classes once a month for those in trouble with the law. Classes last 12 hours and are spread out over four days. TSI also has classes and programs that help with communication, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, problem-solving and cognitive flexibility.

In Summary

TSI provides quality treatment to those struggling with mental health issues, substance abuse and behavioral challenges. By treating the whole person instead of just the addiction, treatment aims to help clients maintain a healthy, sober lifestyle outside of treatment. Groups are offered in the morning and evening to help accommodate the schedules of families. Services are covered under Medicaid, private pay and sliding scale fees.
