The Basics
For the last six years, Tranquility Place has provided outpatient Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid addicts using methadone. The facility is located in the Central City area of Salt Lake City, Utah. It requires clients to participate in group and individual therapy that employs evidence-based methods while receiving their medication doses.
Treatment and Staff
After an intake session, clients receive a treatment plan that details an appropriate MAT schedule, individual therapy at least once a month and group therapy at least once a week. Dosing hours are 5:30 to 11 am weekdays and 7 to 9 am on weekends and holidays.
Therapy uses CBT and success-oriented techniques to explore handling triggers, creating boundaries and relapse prevention. There’s also a women’s gender-specific group available.
Counselors address co-occurring disorders in both one-on-one and group sessions, but refer those clients in need of comprehensive dual diagnosis support to nearby mental health clinics. If clients wish to attend peer support meetings such as 12-step, SMART Recovery or Celebrate Recovery, the treatment team helps them locate a range of options in the area.
Once they’ve had clean drug screens and attended all required therapy sessions for 90 consecutive days, clients are eligible to apply for take-home doses of medication each week.
The treatment team includes LCSWs, Substance Use Disorder Counselors and LPNs.
