Morristown New JerseyThe Basics

Therapy Resources of Morris County was opened in October of 2012 by Cheryl Garodnick with several colleagues to create TRMC. Providing mental health services in Morristown, New Jersey, TRMC provides a range of services that include outpatient substance abuse treatment and dual diagnosis support. Assessments and educational services for clients with DUIs are also available. All treatment services are individualized to the client and enable each client to tend to their work and family obligations while pursuing recovery.

Treatment and Staff

Therapy Resources of Morris County is comprised of 10 therapists who specialize in various aspects of mental health care. All clients must be bio-psycho-socially assessed by one of the staff intake counselors. Clients with court obligations or co-occurring disorders have treatment paths tailored to their needs.

Substance abuse clients typically come in once per week to see their therapist for individual therapy. Treatment can be as brief or as long as the client desires. Clients with court obligations are drug tested at random to ensure they are in compliance with their requirements.

In addition to individual therapy, clients may attend small group therapy sessions with other clients. Groups are facilitated by therapists utilizing behavioral modification techniques and evidence-based practices. Groups for DUI clients focus on psycho-education and providing more information on the dangers of substance abuse and heavy drinking. Anger management, relapse prevention, grief work, conflict resolution and other topics may be covered during groups. During treatment, clients are highly encouraged to attend 12-step meetings but not required. If requested, clients may also include their spouse or family in treatment. Therapists use a wide range of techniques that include DBT and CBT.

Treatment is facilitated by credentialed professionals who specialize in substance abuse. Credentials include LCADCs, LPCs and LCSWs. If the client cannot afford primary services, there are also therapists in training who provide inexpensive sessions.

Extras

TRMC provides special classes and groups for families with a loved one in treatment. Parenting classes and family groups are available several times a week to provide clarity about the treatment process and the nature of mental disorders. Resources for mothers struggling with post-partum depression are also available through TRMC.

Clients seeking a more individualized experience will find treatment at TRMC ideal. Through individualized therapy, group classes and 12-step meetings, clients can begin their recovery with the skill and expertise of an experienced staff.
