Therápia Addiction Healing Center Review
Therápia Addiction Healing Center is one of two rehabs operated in Utah by Renaissance Ranch, a provider of substance abuse treatment services. While Renaissance Ranch’s program for men only is based on the treatment principles of the Mormon Church, Therápia Addiction Healing Center’s programs in St. George allow men and women to forge their own spiritual path toward recovery. Through group work, meditation, 12-step meetings and individual counseling, clients can recover in a safe and nurturing environment.
Accommodations and Food
Surrounded by spectacular red rock country, the spacious 34-bed facility occupies more than 25,000 square feet. From the outside, it looks like a Greek mansion, with a circular driveway and columns at the entrance. Clients share semi-private rooms, with twin-sized beds and dressers. The luxurious private bathrooms have marble counter-tops and fresh towels. The facility also features several lounges and meeting rooms for therapy groups and meditation. The media room has couches and a flat screen TV and there is also a game room.
Three meals per day are prepared by a professional chef and eaten in the large dining room. The chef likes to offer fresh, clean and wholesome options. Coffee is permitted in the mornings and snacks are available in the afternoons.
Treatment and Staff
Therápia Addiction Healing Center requires that detoxification be done prior to admission. While on-site detox is not available, referrals to an outside partner facility can be made. This process usually takes between two and 10 days, depending on the severity of substance abuse.
Once a client is stable, they begin the 90-day residential program. Treatment includes individual therapy at least once a week, group therapy, experiential therapy, 12-step meetings and nutritional therapy. Group topics are specific to the needs of each gender. The women’s program focuses on trauma, shame, self-esteem, parenting, codependency and relapse prevention. House chores, gardening, vocational rehabilitation and outside service projects help set residents up for life outside of rehab and a licensed nutritional therapist educates them on healthy food choices. Clients are able to meditate in the mornings as a group.
When it comes to 12-step recovery, residents are taken to off-site AA/NA meetings several times a week. The steps are discussed in further detail during group therapy and individual counseling.
The staff includes a medical director, a nursing director, psychologists, social workers and substance abuse counselors.
Extras
When it comes to staying active, residents have plenty of options, including a large gymnasium, a workout room with weights and treadmills, a yoga/aerobics studio, a rock climbing wall, an indoor pool with a sun deck and an outdoor Zen pool. Experiential therapy includes activities such as hiking, ropes courses and equine therapy, all of which are included in the cost.
Therápia Addiction Healing Center also offers intervention services at no additional cost.
The family education program invites family members to participate in the treatment process by attending a two-day Family Workshop that includes discussions and groups about the addiction-as-a-disease model, codependency, the 12 steps and Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. In addition, family addiction recovery groups are held every Wednesday night from 6 to 8 pm.
The rehab also offers a complimentary 90-day aftercare program, with services such as group therapy and case management. If a client relapses at any time, they are welcome to return for treatment at no additional cost.
