Based in Frederick, Maryland, The Youth Ranch offers a gender-specific residential program treating adult male clients for substance abuse. The story behind The Youth Ranch’s name begins in 1974 when the Maryland Sheriffs’ Association created the facility to provide a home for at risk, troubled and homeless boys in Maryland. In 2015, the Ranch changed their focus to provide residential treatment for men with substance abuse issues. Treatment consists of a process that incorporates individual and group therapy that uses evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) as well as the 12 steps. Life skills classes and work therapy are also required. The men are provided with assistance in creating resumes and developing interview skills, with the goal of obtaining employment in the area. Groups address anger management, coping skills, addiction education and relapse prevention. Clients are required to attend off-site AA, NA, Celebrate Recovery or SMART Recovery meetings during their stay. Transportation is provided.
Staff consists of LADCs and CSWs, along with a team of rehab techs that provide 24-hour supervision.
Aftercare is offered by way of The Ranch’s outpatient treatment programs. Additional services include standalone anger management groups and chemical health assessments.
