The Villa Treatment Center Review
The Villa Treatment Center is a co-ed addiction treatment program for those 18 and older in the LA suburb of Woodland Hills, California. The organization offers both residential and outpatient care to adult women struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
Accommodations and Food
The Villa Treatment Center inpatient program is located in a luxurious home in a quiet, suburban neighborhood. The house has a total of 10 beds with double rooms— each with twin beds, dressers, closet space and bedside tables and a lamp. The large home is equipped with a full kitchen, dining room, group meeting room and a comfortable living area where clients can hang out and watch TV. The backyard features a pool and hot tub.
The Villa Treatment Center has an on-site chef who prepares three meals a day. There is a set menu but dietary restrictions can be accommodated. The kitchen also has coffee, snacks and juice available all day.
Treatment and Staff
The treatment process at The Villa begins with an assessment to determine the individual’s level of need. There are 30-, 60- and 90-day protocols available, including on-site medical detox and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for those in opiate withdrawal. The Villa is also equipped to provide dual diagnosis support and has a therapist on staff to treat clients with co-occurring disorders. Although the exact length of the residential program is based on the client’s needs, the average stay is 60 days.
The outpatient day treatment program runs Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3 pm. Clients typically participate in the same programming as the residential folks, but go home in the afternoon. The day treatment program ranges from 30 to 365 days, depending on the client.
Treatment consists of both group and individual therapy that uses a variety of treatment techniques—including CBT, DBT and relapse prevention. Classes on stress management, coping skills and health and wellness are also offered. Groups meet daily while individual sessions are scheduled as needed. The Villa also integrates the 12 steps into treatment and clients are encouraged to attend several outside AA/NA meetings a week, with transportation provided for those in the residential program.
Many of the staff members of The Villa are in recovery, which allows them to have firsthand knowledge of what clients are experiencing. The team includes Master’s-level mental health therapists CADCs, LCSWs, a RN and consulting MD, as well as a chef and various other support staff.
Extras
Alternative therapies available include yoga, meditation, equine, music and art therapy.
As clients finish treatment, counselors meet with them to help with aftercare planning. This includes finding stable housing, job searching or even transition into further treatment. The Villa also offers family group sessions aimed at providing substance abuse education for loved ones as well as addressing co-dependency issues.
