The Serenity Center of Louisiana in Baton Rouge, Louisiana provides residential treatment and outpatient programming for adult clients struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders as well as co-occurring mental health conditions. Treatment and Staff
The Serenity Center offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IO) that is ideal for clients unable to make the time commitment to an inpatient program or for those individuals transitioning out of a inpatient care that still require therapy. The facility has day and evening programming options from 9 am to 12 pm, and 5 to 8 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Clients are able to make a commitment to therapy without interrupting work or school. While the duration of care varies depending on the individual’s needs, the IOP typically lasts between four and 12 weeks. Before entering care, clients undergo a preliminary consultation and comprehensive assessment that includes medical history and family input. From this evaluation, the Serenity Center team tailors a personalized treatment strategy.
The IOP facilitates the 12-step recovery method while also maintaining a focus on psychoeducation. Clients learn about addiction as a disease, and are taught an array of relapse prevention tactics including an awareness of triggers, life skills training and identifying warning signs. Family support is an integral component of the success of a long-term recovery. Through therapy, the facility teaches the client’s family how best to communicate with and support the individual without enabling negative behavior.
The Serenity Center employs a diverse team that includes a psychologist, therapist, mental health counselor and a nursing team. For clients in need of dual diagnosis support, medication management is available.

The facility offers regular aftercare events and a speaker series the last Friday of the month.
