The Recovery Lighthouse
The Recovery Lighthouse is a member of UK Addiction Treatment Centres, a network of six economical to mid-range treatment facilities in the United Kingdom that has been in operation for over two years. Recovery Lighthouse is located in Worthing, a large seaside city in West Sussex.
The facility provides integrated detox and residential treatment and takes a multidisciplinary approach to recovery. It employs evidence-based therapy and places heavy emphasis on the 12-step framework.
Accommodations and Food
The Recovery Lighthouse occupies a sunny brick home with 13 single bedrooms. Bedrooms have modern furniture and ample drawer space and writing desks. The home is outfitted with a comfortable decor and has treatment rooms for group therapy and a lounge for study and recreation. Residents can relax and garden on the home’s grounds and go for supervised walks on the nearby beach.
All meals are professionally catered in the home’s full kitchen. Meals can accommodate residents’ preferences and dietary restrictions. The Recovery Lighthouse provides residents with laundry and linen changing services.
Treatment and Staff
The Recovery Lighthouse provides a week-long detox program for clients in need of stabilization. Clients can then continue treatment in 14-day or 28-day residential programs. In both programs, clients attend an average of four to five treatment groups a day and have individual therapy at least once a week.
Clients participate in processing groups, anger management and relationships skills classes, and art and music therapy. In the evenings, residents also have daily on-site 12-step meetings and their counselors and peer support workers can help with recovery homework and offer support by sharing their experiences of working the 12 steps.
The counseling staff is comprised of Master’s-level therapists and support workers, many of whom are in recovery themselves. Therapy groups use CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic processing. Residents in need of dual diagnosis support or primary care treatment receive coordinated care with additional local health care providers, and UK Addiction Treatment Centres has a staff psychiatrist to monitor residents’ with co-occurring disorders.
Extras
The Recovery Lighthouse invites family members to participate in family counseling, and the treatment team helps family members locate support meetings and therapists for themselves.
As an alumni of UK Addiction Treatment Centres, all residents who complete their treatment plan can receive one year of weekly relapse prevention groups free of charge. Alumni may also apply for a stay in one of UK Addiction Treatment Centers’ affiliated sober living homes.
