The Basics
The Recovery Center is a CARF-accredited facility offering outpatient treatment in Lancaster, Ohio. Established in 1973, The Recovery Center provides adolescents, adults and their families individualized treatment through education and crisis prevention for addiction and co-occurring disorders. It also facilitates medication management and other outreach programs to the community of Fairfield County.
Treatment and Staff
All incoming clients seeking treatment for drugs and alcohol undergo an assessment to determine the level of care needed. If necessary, the intake counselor makes referrals to outside agencies for certain medical or psychiatric services. The staff then develops a treatment and goal plan where the client is placed into either the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or standard outpatient care.
The IOP consists of three therapy sessions a week, either group or individual, for an hour each. However, clients are able to receive as much or as little of the services offered as they’d like. Additionally, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) using Suboxone is available for clients who are opiate dependent. Every client is assigned a therapist who continually checks in on their progress and make sure they’re hitting initially established goals.
The staff works with each client and their specific needs during group and individual therapy. Treatment approaches vary but include CBT, DBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing (MI), play and recreation therapy. Treatment is not based on the 12 steps but the staff is able to connect clients to local AA or NA meetings, as well as sponsors. Treatment programs also offer relapse prevention, stress and coping skills, anger management and parenting skills classes and psychoeducation.
The staff of The Recovery Center is made up of LCSWs, LPNs and case managers.

The staff works closely with many other agencies, like hospitals and doctors, and is able to assist with connecting clientele with legal help and school outreach organizations.
