Located about 30 miles west of Los Angeles in Thousand Oaks, California, The Park House is a sober living facility for men. The Park House provides a safe and stable environment for residents in early recovery. The organization offers its clients a place to socialize and hold each other accountable while still providing structure. While not a permanent option, the facility does offer longer-term stays with flexible plans available.
Accommodations and Amenities
The Park House Sober Living has a total of eight beds available for residents in shared rooms. Rooms are typically shared between two to three clients each, all with twin beds, dressers, end tables, lamps and basic decorations. Each of the bedrooms also comes with a television and cable as well.

Rules and Regulations
Clients at The Park House are expected to follow house behavioral contracts along with a number of house rules. First and foremost, all residents are expected to remain sober throughout their time there and to submit to regular and random drug testing. All residents are also required to attend regular 12-step meetings as well.
As with other sober living homes, clients must also stay active throughout the day which can include pursuing their education, volunteering or working. Other rules include daily rotating chores and a a nightly curfew at 10 pm Sundays through Thursdays and at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Vaping or smoking is not allowed, nor are overnight guests. The home also observes a zero-tolerance policy for relapses.
Apart from the structured nature of the house, the mission is also to remind residents that its possible to have fun in sobriety as well. To that end, all the residents are encouraged to socialize with one another and to support each others’ recovery. The home also throws barbecues on the weekends and sometimes takes house trips to go do sober activities. Finally, house managers are also accessible on-site to help sort out grievances, create new house rules as necessary and advise clients whenever necessary.
Overall, the Park House provides a safe and stable sober environment for men in early recovery, all in a quiet residential area. Though clients are allowed to live their own lives, they are expected to complete monthly chores and to lead structured lives as well. Though the organization uses a fairly nuts and bolts approach to recovery, The Park House Sober Living is a great resource for men in the area.
