Located in Rexburg, Idaho, a small town outside of Idaho Falls, The Olive Tree is a modest behavioral health facility that provides intimate, residential treatment for women struggling with eating disorders and related behavioral health issues. The program encompasses a range of approaches and includes psychotherapy treatment from a mind, body and spirit perspective.
Accommodations and Food
The Olive Tree’s residential facility is small and home-like with a total of five bedrooms available, each with room for two to three residents. Each bedroom comes with twin beds, nightstands, shared closet space and basic decorations. The residence also has all the regular amenities of a home including therapy areas, a common room with cable TV and WiFi and a fully-equipped kitchen. Throughout their stay, all residents are served three meals a day with snacks, though they also take a hand in cooking and preparing their own meals throughout their recovery.
Treatment and Staff
Because the program is non-medical, those in need of medical detox should do so before continuing onto treatment. Once stabilized, all clients attend full days of individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and DBT.
Programs include 12-step support as well as basic dual diagnosis support. Because food plays such a critical role in recovery, residents also develop mindful eating skills through supervised meals, nutrition classes and restaurant outings as a form of exposure therapy.
The staff at The Olive Tree consists of psychologists, dietitians, music therapists, exercise coaches, LPCs and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
There are plenty of holistic services available including yoga, exercise classes, outdoor recreational therapy, music therapy and art therapy.
In addition to the clinical services, the organization also provides a range of creative activities to enrich the lives of members, including activities like scrapbooking, card-making and quilting.
Those who complete a primary care program can also work with with staff members to develop step-down aftercare plans and wraparound services.
The Olive Tree is a safe and stable environment for women in early recovery from eating disorders and related behavioral health issues. All treatment plans are wide-ranging and include evidence-based psychotherapy, holistic therapy, dietary support and additional recreational options. While the cost of treatment may vary depending on insurance and the program specifics, The Olive Tree remains a strong choice for women in the area seeking treatment for eating disorders.
