The Manor Review
The Manor is a private, luxury residential treatment facility for men and women suffering from substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. It opened in December 2015 in the Kettle Moraine forest area of Wisconsin, close to Lake Michigan. The facility is absolutely secluded but also less than an hour from Milwaukee and just a two-hour drive from Chicago, Illinois.
The Manor provides individualized treatment for a limited number of clients in a tranquil, safe setting. Treatment has a specific focus on trauma-informed care, with both holistic and evidence-based methods incorporated. Guests engage with a wide range of specialists whose purpose is to guide them on their personal journey to physical health, mental soundness, emotional maturity, social responsibility and spiritual resilience.
Accommodations and Food
The Manor is two majestic homes situated on 40 pristine acres of land. Clients are greeted upon arrival by a butler who shows them to their private rooms. A maximum of eight guests enjoy a combined 24,000 square feet of indoor luxury in gender-specific homes. The houses feature stunning architecture and spacious interiors. Bedrooms are luxurious, with fine linens, WiFi, satellite TVs and private bathrooms. The grounds are an oasis; with acres of manicured lawn, pools, spas, tennis and basketball courts, a small creek and lush foliage.
Acquiring healthy eating habits is a cornerstone of the program. Menus are directed by the on-site nutrition staff and prepared by an executive chef. Part of the treatment involves learning how to plan and cook healthy meals. Dietary preferences and restrictions can be accommodated.
Treatment and Staff
The Manor’s approach to addiction treatment uses a life-coaching strategy, where clients are encouraged to discover who they are—and who they wish to become. These areas of self-discovery and improvement fall into one of five key categories: physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual. Within each domain, guests receive ongoing assessments and guidance from a wide range of specialists; including physicians, clinical psychologist, Master’s-level therapists, LADCs and personal fitness trainers. If detox is required, this process can be facilitated on-site by a team of medical professionals. Dual diagnosis support is also offered in the form of individual therapy and medication management.
The program generally takes anywhere from 30 to 60 days to complete, depending on the client. Treatment includes classic therapy protocols such as DBT, CBT Motivational Interviewing (MI), biofeedback and EMDR. Group therapy takes place in the form of traditional process groups and therapeutic group activities like equine therapy, music and art therapy. Evenings include attending off-site AA meetings.

The Manor has a fully-equipped gym on-site with access to personal trainers. Clients can also benefit from reiki, massage therapy, acupuncture and yoga.
The manor has a 20-seat movie theater that is used for educational screenings as well as “cinema therapy.”
