The Basics

With locations in California, Florida, Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Georgia, The Madison Institute is a wide-ranging organization providing short-term, residential detox programs for clients struggling with addiction. While each facility may differ in the specifics, they all offer a similar approach to treatment and detox.

Accommodations and Food

All told, the organization has facilities in Encino and Pleasanton, California; Orlando, Florida; Overland Park, Kansas; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Durham, North Carolina; Reno, Nevada; The Woodlands, Texas; Provo, Utah; Richmond, Virginia and Decatur, Georgia. While each of these places are different, each houses residents in private and semi-private rooms. Beyond the bedrooms, the facilities are all set up like standard homes with shared common areas with TV, therapy rooms, a dining area and a kitchen. Throughout their stay, all clients are served three meals a day by a team of on-staff chefs.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning a program, all participants go through an initial intake and assessment process to help the staff determine their needs. Once stabilized, all residents go through a medically-supervised detox process with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). When participants aren’t relaxing and stabilizing, they also attend individual and group therapy with evidence-based treatment practices such as CBT and DBT. Participants are also encouraged to begin working a 12-step program as well. Groups cover a range of topics including life skills, emotional processing, anger management and other related topics.

The staff at The Madison Institute consists of supervising doctors, nurses, CADCs, LMFTs and additional Master’s-level counselors.

Extras

While the above programs typically only list for a couple weeks, each care plan also includes aftercare planning as necessary. In some cases, this can mean placement in stepped-down outpatient programs or in nearby sober living facilities. Referrals to local meetings can also be given upon request.

In Summary

Above all, the Madison Institute provides flexible, inpatient detox programs to participants all around the country. All programs are typically short-term and include individual and group therapy, medically-supervised detox and wraparound aftercare planning as well. While those in need of more extensive residential care may want to find additional help elsewhere, The Madison Institute remains a strong resource worth considering for those in the area.
