Santa Fe New MexicoThe Basics

The Life Link was founded in 1987 to provide shelter and services to the homeless community in the Santa Fe region of New Mexico. With several locations in and around Santa Fe offering a range of mental and behavioral health services, The Life Link offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) substance abuse treatment program using evidence-based methods of treatment.

Treatment and Staff

The IOP offered by Life Link is a 12-week program that consists of nine hours of group therapy per week, attending treatment three days a week for three-hour group therapy sessions that integrate multiple treatment approaches. Staff utilize the Matrix Model, Motivational Interviewing (MI), EMDR, the Community Reinforcement Approach, Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) and CBT.

While all tracks are individualized to the unique needs of each client, all treatment combines individual and group therapy, special issue groups, social and living skills training, communication skills, motivational enhancement, wellness education and relapse prevention. Clients discuss the components of their treatment plan with their counselor who adjusts the plan as needed. Specific groups for men, women, co-occurring disorders and trauma are also made available to the clients. Group topics may also include social and living skills, wellness education and communication skills.

Throughout treatment, clients are expected to keep track of what they have learned in a personal binder as well as assigned homework every night of treatment. As clients complete certain aspects of their treatment plan they graduate on to the next phase of treatment until they have completed all three phases. Upon completion of the program clients are encouraged to attend aftercare, which consists of follow-up group and individual therapy sessions. Random drug screenings are also administered once a week.

The staff at Life Link consists of a licensed psychologist, psycho-social rehabilitation specialist, certified peer support specialists, LADCs and other behavioral health professionals.

Extras

In addition to the IOP, Life Link also offers treatment for a variety of other behavioral health problems. An anti-human trafficking initiative, employment services, supportive housing services, a shelter, a mental health rehabilitation program, a women’s shelter and mental health counseling are all available.

In Summary

The IOP at Life Link is intended for those in need of a structured and intensive program without the need for inpatient care. Through multiple treatment approaches, issue-specific groups ad individualized treatment planning, clients are given a highly personalized program for their recovery.
