The Basics
The Guidance Care Center, Inc. was incorporated into a non-profit organization in 1973 with the aim to provide quality behavioral health care and services at a reasonable price to the communities in Southern Florida. With three locations throughout the Florida Keys, GCCI is a CARF-accredited network of facilities offering substance abuse treatment services that include detox, an outpatient program and school-based services.
Treatment and Staff
Following a medically monitored detox, clients can enroll in the outpatient program at GCCI. Treatment is highly individualized and tailored to fit the unique needs of each client, factoring in severity of the substance abuse, age, gender and whether a co-occurring disorder may be present, following which a treatment plan is developed.
Treatment is based in CBT and DBT methodology and includes individual and group therapy as well as aftercare planning. One-on-one sessions are scheduled independently and group sessions are held mornings and evenings Monday through Friday.
Medication information and addiction education are also available upon request. The 12-steps are not integrated into treatment, however clients are strongly encouraged to get involved with a peer-support group outside of their treatment program.
The staff at GCCI consists of psychiatrists, Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), Registered Nurses (RNs) and LPCs.
Extras
In addition to the substance abuse treatment services, GCCI also offers general mental health services, crisis stabilization, a personal growth center, assisted living programs, case management and transportation services. Additionally, young students are given access to counselors who provide in-school prevention and educational services as well as life-skills training.
Aftercare typically consists of one individual session every other month and a group session every other week.
